The Chapel Bridge or The Kapellbrücke is one of two bridges in the tourist city of Lucerne in Switzerland. The bridge is lined with paintings and quite the nice walk. The city itself makes for a really good walk after dusk as it lights up nicely. Although far from deserted, the city does have a calm and serene feel at night, or maybe those are just my feelings as a tourist.

That’s one of the best parts of a tour like this; not only do you get to see a lot of places, but you also get to meet a lot of nice people on the tour. The way the tour is designed, we all spent practically waking minute of the tour together so good, albeit short, friendships tend to form in those few days.

This Panorama was shot on top of Mt Titlus in Switzerland which stands at over 3200 metres. To get on top of that we used a revolving cable car. On top of the mountain they had developed a glacier cave which wasn’t a whole lot more than a cave with fancy lights. Apart from the breathtaking view, the best part being on top of mountain was the unobstructed sun. The temperature was around 3-5 C but because the sun shone directly on us as well as reflected off the white surface, one didn’t need more than a regular winter jacket. Oh, and because the sun reflected off the snow, you couldn’t stay on top without a pair of sunglasses.

The Large Sphinx is said to guard the Egyptian Collection at the Grand Louvre museum in Paris, France. It’s a shame we were only able to spend about 2 hours as part of the tour and only got see a really small part of the 60,000 sq m museum. The paintings, sculptures, antiquities are a fine display of the growth of humanity over the decades. Taking pictures gets really tricky inside the Louvre because of the low lighting conditions; the 400D only does a decent job at ISO 800.

The tealights you see were being by visitors to the cathedral in Cologne, Germany. The cathedral which was fairly dark on the inside was being lit up on one side by these tealights which could be seen from the other end of the building.

The outside of the Cologne cathedral will tell you what to expect on the inside. An excellent work of Gothic architecture, the cathedral is a symbol of Cologne and thus found on all the postcards. It it said it took over 600 years to build and once you go inside you’ll realise why that’s not so surprising. Both the exterior and interior display an amount of detail which is bound to amaze anyone.

The view all around was nothing short of spectacular not cold at all. This was because the sun was shining quite bright and reflected off the white snowed up surface. It was impossible to walk around without a pair of shades. But being on the mountain was like being on top of world, a very calm, blissful sort of feeling. A lot like how Switzerland really is described in the travel brochures then.

The peak has a lot built on it including Ice flyer, a gallery and Ice Cave. The journey up is as scenic as the breathtaking view from the top. A lot of tourists who visit Switzerland visit Jungfraujoch and for good reason. The weather was absolutely brilliant with temperatures hovering just above zero but no snow. 2 layers did the job and there was no need for heavy jackets, however the sun reflected off the white snow making sunglasses absolutely essential.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted I know but I hope to be more regular. This picture was taken in the last few days of my tour of Europe. We had seen the Eiffel tower in it’s glory the night before and I must say the building is absolutely amazing. I didn’t think the tower would be that big of a deal; in my mind it was just another building but everyone must see the building up close at night once in their life time. The reason I’ve posted this picture is because I’ve seen about a million pictures of the tower straight on but thought this would be a different perspective. Enjoy.
